ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Voicing displeasure over the fiasco on the part of the Islamabad administration, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday ordered to end religious groups’ sit-in at Faizabad till tomorrow.
It is pertinent to mention here that the IHC judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui while hearing two separate but identical petitions on Thursday had ordered the religious parties to end their sit-in at Faizabad Interchange. However, the sit-in protesters refused to obey the Court’s orders.
While hearing the Case on Friday, Justice Siddiqui took notice of refusal by the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Yah Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek to end their sit-in, and termed it a failure of Islamabad administration.
Justice Siddiqui said that the administration didn’t use its authority to end the sit-in.
The IHC ordered the Islamabad administration to take necessary steps to clear the Faizabad Interchange. It also ordered the administration to seek help of Frontier Constabulary (FC) and Rangers to implement Court’s order.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Captain (retd) Mushtaq Ahmad and Director Inspector General (DIG) Operations also appeared before the Court.
The DC informed that Court that there were 1800 to 2000 participants of sit-in while a few of them also possessed weapons and stones, adding that the number of participants might increase after the Jumma Prayers.
Captain (retd) Mushtaq Ahmad further told the IHC that the administrated required three to four hours to carry out the operation.
