ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad administration has banned the entry of heavy vehicles on Expressway, prompting the motorists to admire the initiative as it helped the traffic flow.

On Tuesday, the Office of the District Magistrate in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) issued a notification under which Heavy Transport Vehicles were banned to enter Islamabad Expressway from 07:00 am to 09:00 am and 05:00 pm to 07:00 pm in order to improve traffic flow on the road.

The aforesaid timings are rush hours because of traffic commuters going to schools and offices.

“It has been observed that during the office starting/closing hours i.e from 07:00 am to 09:00 am and 05:00 pm to 07:00 pm heavy traffic flow is seen on Islamabad Express, which is creating severe problem and nuisance for the general public. The main reason behind this massive traffic am is the flow of heavy transport vehicles at the Expressway, Islamabad.

In view of foregoing above, it is hereby ordered that Heavy Transport Vehicles are banned to enter on Islamabad Express during the aforementioned hours,” the notification stated.

Meanwhile, the motorists and commuters appreciated the initiative taken by the Islamabad administration to make the traffic flow smooth on Islamabad Expressway.
