NewsInternational Eurasian Movement presents documentary "Rising Pakistan"

The Russia-based International Eurasian Movement has made a documentary titled “Rising Pakistan”, in which Pakistani scholars and experts shared their views about the rapidly changing status of the country, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The documentary has been written by Andrew Korybko and directed by Leonid Savin while its video editing was done by Sofia Metelkina.

The documentary “Rising Pakistan” began with a brief description, mentioning that Pakistan has recently been the source of important political news i.e the settlement in neighboring Afghanistan, another new conflict with India and the problem of global terrorism. All these issues are more important than just regional events. In addition, the new government headed by democratically elected Prime Minister Imran Khan and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) went to the new potential of this State.

In addition, the role the United States which patronized Pakistan in the era of the old Cold War has changed and Pakistan can no longer be defined as in American proxy. Pakistan has officially announced that it wants to take its foreign policy in a new direction because of this many experts and political analysts have begun to think that Pakistan could be a geopolitical game-changer, moving from an object of International Relations to a subject thereof. As an international political actor, with proper governance and the relevant decisions of the political elite, Pakistan could have a serious impact not only on South Asia but also on Eurasia as a whole.

In the documentary, following Pakistani scholars and experts were asked about their expectations regarding the rapidly changing status of the state.

  • Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Professor of School of Politics and International Relations, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad
  • Walid Iqbal, Member of Senate and Lawyer, Lahore
  • P J Mir, President of the Din Media Group, Lahore
  • Tayyab Baloch, Journalist, Islamabad
  • Zamir Ahmed Awan, Deputy Director, Chinese Studies Center, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad
