ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister and the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has decided to take the senior journalist and anchorperson Najam Sethi to the Court for his false and derogatory remarks about his family life.
Imran Khan met the renowned lawyer Babar Awan and discussed in detail with him the content of Najam Sethi’s statement.
The Chairman PTI also directed Babar Awan to file a suit for defamation worth Rs 10 billion against Najam Sethi over his “derogatory, false and defamatory conversation”, he made in the program titled “The Najam Sethi Show” telecast on Channel 24 on March 28, 2019.
As per Imran Khan’s directive, Babar Awan prepared and submitted the defamation suit under Section 4 of Defamation Ordinance 2002 in the Islamabad District Court.
Babar Awan said that no leniency can be granted for fake news. He said that shameful claims were made about the private life of the prime minister.
The PTI leader and lawyer said that endeavors to desecrate laws & values and slander someone on television must be discouraged. He hoped that Najam Sethi would appear in the Court to defend his disgraceful remarks instead of finding ways to flee.
