Monitoring Desk: Uzbekistan: A high-powered delegation of Pakistan army will arrive in Tashkent soon on a three-day visit for bilateral talks with top leadership of Uzbek Defence Ministry.
The Pakistan army delegation will be headed by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat will reach Tashkent on September 19.
The nuclear power of South Asia and member of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), Pakistan has close ties with Tashkent since independence of Uzbekistan from the former Soviet Union in 1991.
Pakistan was the first Country to connect Uzbekistan with South Asia through flight; therefore, Tashkent gives special position to its relations with Islamabad.
Both the Countries are engaged in many spheres of military relationships
Pakistan successfully fought against homegrown terrorists through different military operations in its tribal areas and cleaned these areas from terrorists.
Pakistan is concerned with law and order situation in Afghanistan and presence of international terrorists in bordering areas.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan shares 1400km border with Afghanistan and millions of Afghans took refuge in Pakistan when the Soviet Union engaged itself with Afghan Operations in early 80s.
