Samarkand, Uzbekistan: The Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states will meet in Sochi Russia on November 30 -1 December, said SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov.

Rashid Alimov maintained that Sochi meeting would be held for the first time in the G8 format.

It will be the second major event of SCO in 2017 as SCO annual Summit was held in Astana between 7 – 10 June, where a historic decision was made to expand the organization. India and Pakistan became full member of SCO during Astana Summit.

“We are preparing to hold the meeting in G8 format in Sochi. The meeting in the new format will give dynamics to the regional cooperation of the SCO members and will give a new impetus to wide regional cooperation. The agenda of the meeting in Sochi will be fully formed at a meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of the SCO member states, which will be held on November 25 this year. SCO has become one of the most important bloc promoting trade, economic development, social and humanitarian uplift in the world”, said Rashid Alimov.

It is pertinent to mention that applications of India and Pakistan were approved in Ufa SCO Summit and both countries became full-members in Astana SCO Summit.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
