TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: Pakistan is participating in “Regional Security and Sustainable Development Conference” to be held in Samarkand on November 10.
Meanwhile, the National Security Advisor (NSA) of Pakistan Lt. General (retd) Nasser Khan Janjua has arrived in Uzbekistan to attend this important conference and will have opportunity of interacting with Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran and Afghanistan.
The two-day conference titled “Central Asia: One Past and a Common Future, Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Mutual Prosperity” will start in historic city of Samarkand on November 10. The Conference is being held under the auspices of the United Nations and the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
Regional security experts, international media and high-ranking officials from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Europe, Asia and America have already gathered in Samarkand. Representatives of United Nations, European Union, Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), CIS and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are also attending this mega event including Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini and European Commissioner for International Cooperation and development Neven Mimica.
The two-day forum will discuss modalities for enhancing regional cooperation among Central Asian states.
The agenda items include discussions over regional cooperation in the fields of trade, economic, investment, transport, communication, water, energy, environmental and cultural spheres.
According to information, Lt. General (retd) Nasser Janjua will also have high level meetings with representatives of Uzbek government and will visit Islamic University.
Lt. General Janjua will also visit the grave of Father of Nation deceased Founding President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in Samarkand and will visit Registan, Mazar of Imom Bukhari and Mazar of Amir Taimur.
According to information received from Samarkand, NSA Pakistan Lt. General (retd) Nasser Janjua will have opportunity of interacting with the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, (Kairat Abdrakhmanov), Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, (Erlan Abdyldaev), Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, (Sirodzhiddin Aslov), Foreign Minister of Iran, (Mohammad Javad Zarif), Foreign Minister of Afghanistan (Salahuddin Rabbani), Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan (Rashid Meredov) and with Deputy Assistant to the US President Trump and Director for South and Central Asia National Security Council Lisa Curtis.
