LAHORE, Pakistan: With tears in eyes, thousands of mourning offered funeral prayers of renewed lawyers and human rights activist Asma Jahangir at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday afternoon.
The funeral prayers were led by Haider Farooq Mududi, and in which government officials, large number of lawyers, judges, celebrities and citizens participated.

The deceased lawyer will be laid to rest in her family’s farmhouse on Bedian Road, Lahore.
The 66-year-old Asma Jahangir suffered from a cardiac arrest on Sunday that caused her death, leaving a son and two daughters as her survivors.
Meanwhile, the Upper House of the Parliament – Senate – held a special condolence reference in memory of Asma Jahangir today.
Paying tribute to her services for the cause of rule of law, human and women rights, and democracy, the Senators said that Asma Jahangir was a strong voice for the marginalized and oppressed.
The Senators said that she always supported democracy and took a tough stance against dictatorship. They said that Asma Jahangir was amongst the rare breed of brave women born in Pakistan.
The lawmakers said that Asma Jahangir always supported freedom of speech and fought for minorities’ rights as well. They said that she always stood up against human rights violations by rising above religious and gender lines.
