KARACHI: Unknown gunmen on Wednesday killed four policemen including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and three constables in Korangi area of Karachi.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi Naeem Ahmed said that the incident took place in the Zaman Town locality of Korangi.

The SSP Korangi said that policemen were having a lunch at a roadside hotel when unidentified assailants came on a motorcycle and opened fire on them.

The attackers managed to escape from the site successfully.

Meanwhile, the injured policemen were rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) but they succumbed to their wounds before they were provided any treatment.

The sources said that the killed policemen were identified as the ASI Aqeel and constables Jameel, Anwar and Akhtar.

The Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah took strong notice of the policemen’s murders and directed to apprehend the culprits at the earliest.
