GWADAR, Pakistan: Unknown miscreants on Wednesday resorted to firing in Gwadar, a Port City in Pakistan’s Southwestern Balochistan province, killing five people (Firing in Gwadar).
Sources said that further two people were also injured in the firing incident.
Gwadar has a strategic significance for Pakistan, and its importance soared manifold in the perspective of multi-billion China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
It is worth mentioning here that neighboring India has been an overt opponent of CPEC, and its involvement in heinous incidents in Balochistan is now an established fact.
In March 2013, a former Indian Navy Officer Kulbhushan Jadhav was also arrested from Balochistan by Pakistan’s security forces on espionage charges. Kulbhushan Jadhav also admitted his offense and eventually sentenced to death. Though he is yet to be hanged.
Another important fact is that the Gwadar firing incident took place a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan will leave for Beijing on his first official visit to China, which is being termed as very instrumental with regards to CPEC projects and elevating the all-weather friendship between the two Countries to new heights.
During his visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will meet the Chinese leadership in Beijing. He will also visit Shanghai to participate in the First China International Import Expo as a guest of honor.
