Elections 2017 Final Results: BJP crushed all except Congress in Punjab

NewsElections 2017 Final Results: BJP crushed all except Congress in Punjab

New Delhi, India: Crushing all political parties in two states, BJP has emerged strongest political party in five state elections of India. The state of Punjab stood with Congress and proves to be a nightmare for BJP.

In Goa and Manipur, Congress is at top but results show hung assemblies and indicate coalition governments. BJP got 13 seats while Congress bagged 17 out of 40 total seats in Goa. Congress bagged 28 in Manipur while BJP got 21 out of total 60 seats.

The assembly elections in the five states were considered the first big test for the BJP. Manipur state is a trouble place where Indian government is using paramilitary forces to snub popular movement of independence.

Four Chief Ministers have submitted their resignations to governors as they failed to manage their states. They include, Akhilesh Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Harish Rawat (Uttarakhand), Laxmikant Parsekar (Goa) and Parkash Singh Badal (Punjab).

A massive increase in overall votes of BJP indicates that BJP got 46.5 per cent votes in five states comparing to its 33.13 percent votes it bagged during 2012 elections.

Congress vote percentage stayed almost same in five states as Congress got 33.79% in 2012 and now it bagged 33.5% but its seats fell by one-third, from 32 to 11.

Independent candidates fell down and their share was bagged by BJP in all states except Goa where 3 independent candidates managed to win the elections.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat lost both of his seats.

“I accept double defeat. I lost both seats, and the state,” said Rawat after he submitted his resignation to Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul.

In Uttarakhand, BJP got 57 out of 70 seats while Congress got only 11. UKP and BSP could not get a single seat.

Snap polls and election experts failed to determine results of Uttarakhand as people were saying that BJP took a wrong decision to by giving tickets to former MPs of Congress. However, results testified that Modi took right decision and crushed Congress in the state.

Congress rebels like Satpal Maharaj and Vijay Bahuguna changed the scenario and became faces of the BJP in the state.

BSP chief Mayawati is still shocked and refused to accept elections results.

BJP has won 325 of the 403 constituencies in the state of Uttar Pradesh. On the other hand, Congress regained power in Punjab after 10 years and defeated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the ruling Akali Dal-BJP alliance.

Congress comeback in Punjab after 10 years is shocking news for Akali Dal and BJP because both parties have alliance and AAP was also contesting. Congress got 77 seats while AAP got 20 out of 117 total seats.
