ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad-based Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) in collaboration with the University of Peshawar (UoP) organized a Conference on “Unity, Faith and Discipline” at UoP in Peshawar on Tuesday.

The Conference had the participation of distinguished guest speakers and experts of the subject.

The guest speakers who delivered speeches during the Conference included the Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies at UoP Professor Dr. Miraj-ul-Islam Zia, the Director Pakistan Study Center at UoP Professor Dr. Fakhr ul Islam, the former Corps Commander of Peshawar Corps Lieutenant General (retd) Masood Aslam, the former Additional Inspector General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, the former Federal Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad, and the Director Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre at University of Peshawar Professor Dr. Rashad Ahmed.

The Session commenced with the opening remarks by the President CGSS Major General (retd) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery who welcomed and thanked the worthy participants of the session.

The panelists provided with their valuable input to the participants and highlighted the significant events which culminated into creation of Pakistan.

They also emphasized on issues and predicaments which are faced by its citizens and administrators. War on Terrorism and its counter strategies were also accentuated by few speakers. Scholars and academicians focused on building a tolerant society through educating the youth and awareness programs targeted for the youth informing them about their responsibilities and duties as the citizen of Pakistan.

The speakers highlighted the changing dynamics of national and international politics and stressed that we need to build and portray our true patriotic and peaceful image.

The panelists were of the view that we can only exist as a federation, our leaders must know this fact and act accordingly. Spiritual foundations of Pakistan must be included in our syllabus. We need to reform our political system and it is the right of the citizens to disqualify any corrupt person. We must dissolve three-tiered educational system and teachers should be the highest payed lot of our country. We must not build schools for business purposes and they must serve its real purpose.

Approximately 300 people including representatives of public and private sector and students attended the Conference.

His Royal Highnes conveyed his heartfelt acknowledgement to Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu for the participation of Pakistan Air Force contingent comprising JF-17 Block-III fighter jets alongside air and ground crew in the Bahrain International Airshow. Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
