RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As the deadline for declaring assets under the Assets Declaration Scheme is about to end, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has begun to seize benami (undeclared) lands, and the FBR Rawalpindi has confiscated 6,000 kanal land possessed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Senator Chaudhry Tanveer Khan.

Sources said that Senator Chaudhry Tanveer kept the benami lands in his employees’ names.

Sources said that the FBR has issued notices to his employees including Abdul Aziz, Mohammad Basharat, Azher Ali, Mohammad Maroof, Shah Jahan Begum and Raja Abdul Shakoor.

They further said that the FBR has also been permitted to size eight benami lands in Karachi.

Meanwhile today is the last date for declaration of assets under the Assets Declaration Scheme through a Presidential Ordinance.

In a clarification statement, the FBR said that it also includes the condition of retaining cash, foreign currency and liquid assets not repatriated.

The FBR said that all such declarant’s are required to retain cash in their bank accounts till today.
