ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As part of security measures in the Federal Capital, the possession of Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) has been declared compulsory for the public to enter the Red Zone.

The ban will be in effect from November 19, 2018 (Monday).

According to the Islamabad Police, no person or vehicle will be allowed to enter the Red Zone without identification. There will be complete checking and identification process at Police Checkposts before anyone is permitted to enter the area.

The Islamabad Police has asked the citizens to make it sure that they have their CNICs with them while exiting their houses to avoid any inconvenience.

In the recent past, Red Zone has also remained in the limelight for political adventures as well such as a 126-day long sit-in by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was held at D Chowk.
