CHITRAL, Pakistan: An earthquake struck Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral City and its adjoining areas on Monday morning; however, no casualties were reported so far.
The epicenter of the earthquake was reported at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Sources said that earthquake tremors were felt in different areas of Chitral and adjoining parts including Buner, Malakand and Swat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
People came out of their houses in panic as the earthquake tremors were felt; however, no loss of life or damage to property was reported for far.
It was the second earthquake which hit these areas in a week as last Monday, a 4.5 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The earthquake caused panic among the people which also resulted in a stampede in a local school in Battagram, leaving 57 students injured.
