ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A large number of people from different walks of life including diplomats with their family members thronged to Foreign Office on bright Sunday to attend annual charity bazar organized by Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA) and enjoyed variety of food, cuisine and cultural activities of different countries.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq alongwith his wife Reema Ayaz Sadiq inaugurated the annual charity bazar which attracted a large crowed who witnessed a variety of traditional products from over fifty countries and Pakistan along with traditional and tasty food items.
Speaking on the occasion the Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq appreciated the efforts of the spouses of Foreign Office officials for their hard work to generate funds to help the children of low paid employees of the Foreign office to cater their needs of education and health.
The speaker said to provide educational and health facilities to the children of low paid employees and needy is a very noble cause and those who are organizing such activities deserved appreciation.
Appreciating the contribution and share of the diplomatic community in raising funds by Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA), the Speaker said it is very encouraging and made the Foreign Office a bigger family.
Addressing the function Reema Ayaz Sadiq, the wife of the Speaker National Assembly appreciating the efforts of PFOWA said every one had to spare some time and money to help the needy especially to meet the educational and health facilities of the children of low paid employees.
She said it is very noble cause and every one should extend their full cooperation and assistance to the efforts of the PFOWA.
Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry speaking on the occasion said he had been associated with this organization since the joining to Foreign Office in 1981 and proud to be part of this charity organization.
He said this organization is being run by the wives of the officers of the Foreign Office and it deserved appreciated and credit for its continuous efforts to provide help and assistance to
deserving sons and daughters of the low paid employees of the Foreign Office.
Najia Aizaz Ahmad President of Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association speaking on the occasion said the association had been providing basic needs of life including clean drinking
water, education and health to the children of low paid employees of the Foreign Office for last many years.
She said a senior officer of the Foreign Office Johar Saleem has contributed Rs. 400,000 for providing scholarships to the talented and needy children of the Foreign Office.
She also thanked the diplomatic community for participating in the activities of the association especially in the annual bazar with their traditional food and cultural activities and traditional products.
More than fifty embassies put up their stalls in the bazar to highlight their traditional food and traditional handicrafts which were sold in the bazar to generate funds for the activities of the PFOWA.
The event was a showcase of cultural kaleidoscope, as there was food, cultural activities, dresses, literature, handicrafts and other traditional products were displayed at the Foreign Office in connection with this bazar.
A large number of sponsors and donors; mainly representing brand product houses in Pakistan, also set up their stalls at this annual gala. Stalls of food and artifacts with fun activities for children were the attraction for the participants.
A cultural show was also organized where artists from different countries performed their traditional dances.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, ambassador of various countries with their family members enjoyed various activities through out the day.
