NewsDense fog causes disruption of flights at Lahore airport, motorway closed

LAHORE, Pakistan: Dense fog continued to disrupt routine life especially in plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh on Tuesday.

Sources said that dense fog also disrupted the schedule of domestic and international flights at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

They said that 17 flights were delayed while eight were suspended at the airport at night and Tuesday morning.

Likewise, trains were also getting delayed from Karachi to Lahore Railway Station.

Meanwhile, motorway was forced to be closed for all kinds of traffic from Lahore to Kot Momen and onwards from Khanewal to Multan due to dense fog.

The Motorway Police said that parts of the motorway passing through Swabi and Charsadda as well as Pindi Bhattian and Gojra were covered in thick fog; thus they were closed.

Similar, the national highway leading to Mian Channu from Lahore was closed as well.

However later Motorway Police tweeted that “All highways and motorways are clear of fog now.”

As per the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), dense/shallow foggy conditions are likely to prevail in plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh during night/morning hours.

But the PMD also said that rain is expected in various areas of the Country including in Punjab in next few hours which will help subside dense foggy conditions.
