NEW YORK: The inaugural match of the three-match T20 series “Cricket All-Stars Series 2015” featuring legendary cricketers from around the world is set to be played at New York’s Citi Field on Saturday.
The match is scheduled to begin at 18:00 as per Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and at 23:00 according to Pakistan Standard Time (PST).

There are two teams in the competition, one is led by India’s Sachin Tendulkar while the other is led by Australian Shane Warne.
Sachin Tendulkar’s team has been named as “Sachin’s Blasters” and it consists of the Captain Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly, Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawardene, Carl Hooper, Moin Khan, Shaun Pollock, Lance Klusener, Graeme Swann, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shoaib Akhtar, Glenn McGrath and Curtly Ambrose.
Shane Warne’s team has been named as “Warne’s Warriors” and it includes the Captain Shane Warne, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Michael Vaughan, Jacques Kallis, Kumar Sangakkara, Andrew Symonds, Jonty Rhodes, Wasim Akram, Daniel Vettori, Saqlain Mushtaq, Courtney Walsh, Allan Donald and Ajit Agarkar.
The next two matches will be played at Houston’s Minute Maid Park and Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on November 11 and 14 respectively. All three playing venues are basically Rugby grounds but being used to play cricket, the arguably the second most famous game in the world after football.
The idea behind the launching of this exhibition event in the United States is to introduce cricket in the US and further globalize it as it will enable the US audience and sports fan to watch Live some of the worlds’ best cricketers, but retired now, playing.
“To globalize the game, I feel T20 is the right format,” Sachin Tendulkar said while talking to ESPNcricinfo in New York City.
“The format is fast, it’s gripping, it’s got lot of energy and invariably the finishes are real close. Very rarely you get to see a one-sided game, which is what people like to see. Towards the end of most T20 games, every ball matters,” Sachin added.
