ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The ill-planning in under-construction Peshawar Mor- New Airport Metro Bus Project has sparked a new controversy as five Islamabad’s Sectors have been disconnected with the Main Road – Kashmir Highway.
The project is being built by the National Highway Authority (NHA), and its Ill-conceived strategy to build the Metro Bus Track on Kashmir Highway has become a contentious matter between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the authority, according to Daily Nai Baat.
Sources said that Metro Bus Track is being built from Peshawar Morr to New Islamabad Airport but while its construction is underway, 10th Avenue, 11th Avenue, 12th Avenue, 13th Avenue and 14th Avenue have been disconnected with Kashmir Highway.
The member of CDA Planning Division Asad Mehboob Kiyani told that the Capital Development Authority took the matter to the Chairman NHA, and requested him to construct interchanges on five affected avenues at the cost Rs 4 billion.
However, the Chairman NHA turned down the request of CDA, and termed it a hurdle in the way of New Airport Metro Bus Project.
According to the member engineering Asad Mehboob Kiyani, even NHA is not ready to vacate the required venue for construction of interchanges on mentioned avenues.
Mehboob Kiyani said that it’s a very serious matter which would inflict troubles on thousands of residents of five Sectors as well as affect the City Planning. He said that CDA is considering to raise the issue at high level.
