TASHKENT, Uzbekistan: Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday met the Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov in Tashkent wherein during the talks, they were of the view that the settlement of the Afghan problem would bring tangible benefits to all Countries of the region including Central Asia.

The two dignitaries said that once peace prevailed in the entire region after the settlement of Afghan issue, it would stimulate the construction of railways, highways, pipelines, the development of regional and transregional trade.

Besides the regional issues with especial emphasize on Afghan war, General Bajwa and the Uzbek foreign minister also discussed the state and prospects of strengthening Uzbek-Pakistan ties in various fields.Chief of Pakistan Army Gen Qamar Bajwa in Tashkent: Afghan peace inevitable for regional security

It was underlined that in recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan had noticeably intensified. Fruitful bilateral meetings were held at the highest level, contacts of business circles had become more intensive & effective, exchanges were being developed in the military and military-technical fields, as well as in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.

The meeting highly appreciated the results of the high-level International Conference on Afghanistan held on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 26-27, 2018 in Tashkent with the title “Peace Process, Security Cooperation & Regional Connectivity.”

The interlocutors also exchanged views on other issues of the Uzbek-Pakistani agenda and individual international problems.

Pakistani ambassador to Uzbekistan Irfan Yusuf Shami took part in the meeting.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa will also take part in the first ever military exercises between Pakistan and Uzbekistan in Forish, Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh Region.
