Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited Gilgit and attended the annual commanding officers conference held here at the Northern Light Infantry Regimental Centre Bunji today.
On arrival, Chief of Army Staff laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defence of motherland.
While addressing the officers and soldiers of NLI Regiment, COAS appreciated the high state of morale, Operational preparedness and vigil being maintained by troops along the most challenging front line. He advised the officers and men to continue working with army’s traditional unflinching resolve and utmost dedication in the service of the Nation.
Later Chief of Army Staff also met with war veterans, inquired about their well being and commended their services for the country. COAS also pinned badges to formally install Lieutenant General Ikram Ul Haq as new Colonel Commandant NLI Regiment.
Earlier, on his arrival at the Regimental centre, Chief of Army Staff was received by Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lieutenant General Ikram Ul Haq Inspector General training and Evaluation.
