ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Centre for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) will organize an International Conference on “Shanghai Cooperation Organization; Future Prospects and Regional Connectivity” in Islamabad on March 12, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.
The SCO Secretary General Vladimir Norov will be the Guest of Honor of the occasion.
Established on June 15, 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation with eight member Countries including China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and India.
Besides, it has also four observers, six dialogue partners and four guest attendances.
The SCO’s main goals include strengthening mutual trust and neighborliness among the member states; promoting their effective cooperation in politics, trade, the economy, research, technology and culture, as well as in education, energy, transport, tourism, environmental protection, and other areas; making joint efforts to maintain and ensure peace, security and stability in the region; and moving towards the establishment of a democratic, fair and rational new international political and economic order.
