ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A delegation of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS) led by the CGSS President Major General (retd) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery met the visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan His Excellency Elyor Ganiev in Islamabad on Tuesday, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The CGSS delegation – which included the Vice President CGSS Major General (retd) Hafiz Masroor Ahmed, the Executive Director CGSS Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Khalid Taimur Akram, and Director CGSS Ms. Mehreen Gul – briefed the visiting dignitary about the activities of the CGSS and the role played by the Center in the promotion of bilateral ties with Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek deputy prime minister applauded and appreciated the positive role of the CGSS for the enhancement of mutual relationship.

Furthermore, matters related to mutual interest including regional security and connectivity were discussed.

His Excellency Elyor Ganiev said that cooperation between the both will not only help in improving peace and stability in the region, but also usher in economic prosperity as well. Both the counterparts discussed promotion of relations amongst the Central Asian countries.

The visiting dignitary said that he is hopeful that his visit to Pakistan will be helpful to further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations between the two countries.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
