News11 Security Officials martyred in Swat Suicide Blast: ISPR

SWAT, Pakistan: As many as 11 security persons including an officer were martyred while 13 further suffered injuries in a suicide attack on an Army Sports Center in Kabal Tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat District on Saturday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

In a statement, the ISPR said that the suicide blast took place in Sports Area of Army Unit in Kabal.

Earlier the ISPR said that three security officials were martyred and seven others wounded but later the Pakistan army’s media wing said that the seven injured soldiers also  succumbed to their injuries, taking the death toll to 11.

The banned militant outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) confessed to its involvement in the Swat blast, according to a foreign news agency.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi strongly condemned the suicide attack in Swat, and prayed for the blessing of the departed souls and quick recovery of the injured.

In a statement on Saturday, he said that the coward enemy cannot fight with our valiant soldiers and such cowardly acts cannot deter our resolve for the elimination of terrorism from the Country.

The prime minister said that the war against terrorism will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist from the Country.

The Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also strongly condemned the suicide attack in Swat, and said that terror acts cannot deter the national resolve.
