ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in collaboration with BelTA, Belarusian Telegraph Agency, organized a photo exhibition “Sovereign Belarus: People, Events, Achievements” on Tuesday at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

The exhibition was held on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Belarus and Pakistan, established on February 3, 1994.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Division of Pakistan, PNCA, Associated Press of Pakisan (APP), Roots International Schools, and Pyramid Logistics (Pvt) Ltd also collaborated in the holding of the event.

In his remarks at the photo exhibition, the Belarusian Ambassador to Pakistan Andrei G. Ermolovich said that Pakistan is a reliable partner of Belarus in South Asia. He said that the two Countries have a long lasting relationship.

The ambassador said that BelTA news agency is holding this event, adding that we are trying to portray new Belarus through this exhibition.

The Convener of Pakistan-Belarus Parliamentary Friendship Group Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh also addressed the participants of the exhibition, and said that Pak-Belarus relationship is growing by every passing day. He said that last year Pak-Belarus bilateral trade stood at about $65 million; however, he added that their aim is to boost it to $2 billion per year.

The BelTA News Agency Director General Iryna Akulovich said that through this photo exhibition would help the people to get abreast with the Belarusian history, culture and press.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
