RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces Day was celebrated at Joint Staff Head Quarters (JSHQ) of Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi on Thursday, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.

In this regard, a “Ceremony of Friendship Day of the Armed Forces” was held at the JSHQ for the first time.

The Azerbaijani Armed Forces Officers and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizada also participated in the Ceremony along with the generals & staff officers of the JSHQ.

Meanwhile in a tweet, the Ambassador Ali Alizada expressed gratitude to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mehmood Hayat and Pakistan army for their kind gesture.

The Ambassador Ali Alizada also penned down his comments in the notebook at the JSHQ.

It is worth mentioning here that a contingent of Azerbaijani armed forces also took place in the joint military parade of Pakistan armed force in Islamabad on March 23, 2019.

The defence cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan is enhancing by every passing day and both are engaged in trainings and exchange of military knowledge.

The Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan – is annually celebrated on June 26, in Azerbaijan, by the Decree issued by Heydar Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On June 26, 1918 a Muslim Corps, established by a decision of the Special Transcaucasian Committee, was renamed to Detached Corps of Azerbaijan with the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Military Ministry of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established on August 1, 1918

Since its formation, Azerbaijani Army fought against illegally formed armed forces of Armenia in hard battles throughout the all territory of the country. The Azerbaijani Army became a secure guarantee of independence of the Republic and its people, who made a choice to establish a democratic government.

After regaining independence of Azerbaijan in 1991, a new national army was formed in the country. Azerbaijan Military Academy named after Heydar Aliyev, Higher Military School of Azerbaijan, Military High School named after C. Nakhchivansky has been operating since then.

Meanwhile, State Run News Agency AZERTAC reported that First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces.

In the congratulatory message posted on her official Instagram page, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva says:

Dear fellow countrymen!

Dear servicemen and veterans!

Today we mark the Day of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. This is a holiday of military valor, honour and bravery. Today we pay tribute to the heroism of those who defend our homeland by putting their lives at risk.

The Day of the Armed Forces is a true national holiday. The army is the backbone of our statehood, security and stability. Military power of the state is determined by a number of factors. But the key strength of our army is the fighting spirit and boundless love of the Azerbaijani soldiers and officers to the motherland.

Dear servicemen! We are proud of your bravery, courage and the highest professionalism. I heartily congratulate you on the occasion of this remarkable holiday.”

The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
