NewsAyesha Gulalai backs Peshawar University Students’ demands

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s defiant leader and member of National Assembly Ayesha Gulalai on Wednesday backed the demands of enraged Students of Peshawar University, saying the fees hike should be withdrawn.

Talking to media in Peshawar over students protest in Peshawar University, Ayesha Gulalai said that the demands of the Students are legitimate which should be accepted. She said that continuous increase in the fees is unjustified.

Ayesha Gulalai also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, saying that none of the provincial government representatives came to hold dialogues with students.

The lawmaker also demanded that a committee should formed to investigate the matter of Female students being harassed.

Students of Peshawar University resorted to carry out protest over increase in tuition fees by the Universality administration on Tuesday, and boycotted the classes.

The University administration eventually held negotiations with Students; however, talks remained inconclusive as Students were obstinate to continue their protest till their demands were not fulfilled.

Except the surge in fees, Students also resented the insufficient accommodation and transport facilities as well as dilapidated condition of hostel bathrooms.

Moreover, Students also demanded scholarships for deserving students, an endowment fund, and research grants for PhD students.
