PM Nawaz speaks at SCO Summit Astana

Astana, Pakistan: “Pakistan endorses initiative of SCO to counter terrorism and believe that SCO platform provides opportunities to member nations to fight against terrorism and extremism”.

This was stated by Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif while delivering his speech here at SCO Summit in Astana on Friday.

Congratulating India for becoming member of SCO, Sharif said that South Asia became a part of SCO and this would help to fight poverty in the region.

“SCO membership is prestigious and special for Pakistan and Islamabad considers this as a very important development as it provides of important economic and strategic linkages. I congratulate India for joining SCO.

SCO plays pivotal role for regional stability and provides platform for share prosperity, reduce arm race, reduce poverty  and tackle climate change. We endorse resolve to fight terrorism. Pakistan had been a victim of terrorism for long and now it has defeated terrorism with a strong resolve against extremism. Pakistan give special attention to belt and road initiative of China and already in process to complete China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) linking China to sea.

He thanked China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan for helping Pakistan to come full SCO member.

Referring to announcement of Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, Ukrinform reports that Czech Republic will continue to provide support to Ukraine to repel and stop Russian aggression.
