ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Fikrat Oglu Alizada has appreciated Pakistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s position on Nagorno-Karabakh.
In a meeting with the Caretaker Prime Minister Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk at the PM Office in Islamabad on Thursday, the Azerbaijan’s ambassador conveyed the greetings of the Azeri leadership to him and emphasized the importance that Azerbaijan attaches to its relations with Pakistan.
The envoy said that Azerbaijan wants to boost economic relations with Pakistan. He said that the signing of inter-government agreement on energy cooperation will pave the way for enhancing cooperation in multiple areas of energy between the two brotherly countries.
The prime minister noted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan traditionally enjoy close, cordial relations marked by trust and understanding. He said that bilateral collaboration in different sectors has been growing steadily.
Nasir-ul-Mulk also appreciated the visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to participate in the 13th ECO Summit held on March 1, 2017 in Islamabad.
Justice (retd) Nasir-ul-Mulk appreciated Azerbaijan’s continued support on the Jammu & Kashmir dispute and appreciated Azerbaijan’s invaluable role in the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated Pakistan’s principled position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
The caretaker prime minister commended the Azerbaijan’s initiative of hosting the first trilateral meeting between Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Pakistan and Azerbaijan and conveyed that Pakistan is willing to host the second trilateral meeting.
Nasir-ul-Mulk expressed desire that efforts be made to attain the optimum level of economic cooperation.
The prime minister expressed an aspiration that both countries should set the goal of expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy and defence spheres. He also conveyed good wishes for the President of Azerbaijan.
