NewsAfghanistan Peace Conference starts in Moscow today without Taliban

Moscow, Russia: Russia-sponsored Afghan Peace Conference is starting here today while delegation of Afghan Taliban is yet to arrive in Moscow.

US media reports that Afghan Taliban have regretted to attend 11 parties Afghan Peace Conference.

According to Voice of America, Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said to Voice of America (VOA) that Taliban are not attending the conference.

“We cannot call these negotiations as a dialogue for the restoration of peace in Afghanistan”, said Zabiullah Mujahid to VOA.

Meanwhile, reports from Kabul indicate that delegation of Afghan government is leaving for Moscow to attend the conference.

Additional Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Tasneem Aslam and Special envoy of
Chinese Foreign Ministry on Afghan Affairs Deng Xijun are already reached Moscow to attend the Afghan Peace Conference.

Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Iran are attending this conference today.

The agenda of conference revolves around rise of terrorist organisation Daesh in Afghanistan.

It may be mentioned that United States has already regretted to attend this Peace Conference and dropped its heaviest non-nuclear bomb of 21,000 pound in Achin district of the Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday evening— a day before Peace Conference.

The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), nicknamed “the mother of all bombs,” was dropped from C-130 over Achin district that destroyed 2 km area completely. Afghan government did not release any comment over dropping of MOAB.

Regional experts believe that dropping of MOAB in 95,000 population district just some hour before Afghanistan Peace Conference in Moscow aimed to marginalise the conference internationally and to tell the world that US does not believe in talks about Afghan Peace rather in using power to eliminate Daesh.
