Islamabad, Pakistan: Afghan civil war is spread to 29 out of 34 provinces of the country where Taliban and Daesh are contesting with Afghan government.

Over 103,000 people fled their homes for safer places during January 1, 2017 to 23 May 2017 and there is a constant increase in Internally Displaced People (IDPs) because Afghan National Army and US backed forces have failed to provide security of people of Afghanistan.

Contrary to claims of Afghan government which argues that situation is now better in war beaten landlocked country, OCHA figures indicate that war is spreading all over Afghanistan and north is almost fallen to Taliban. Figures speak that 139 out of 399 districts have no control of Afghan government and people are leaving these districts with every passing day.

“From 1 January 2017 to 23 May 2017, 103,229 individuals fled their homes due to conflict. A total of 29 out of 34 provinces had recorded some level of forced displacement”, maintained OCHA report that is released/published on May 2017.

Report indicates that figure of IDPs may be higher because constrained humanitarian access hinders assessments, thus preventing verification of the full extent of displacement and undermining the provision of assistance and services.

OCHA report indicates that situation is grave in Afghanistan where displacement is also facing inadequate shelters, food insecurity, insufficient access to sanitation and health facilities, as well as a lack of protection.
