News4,800 beer and wine permits issued in Islamabad during last two years

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Assembly was told that 4,800 beer and wine licenses were issued to Non-Muslims in Islamabad during the financial years (FYs) 2016-17 and 2017-18, and an amount of Rs 1,198,750 was generated as revenue therefrom.

In a written reply to a question by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) MNA Ramesh Lal, the Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmad Shah apprised the House that in the financial year 2016-17, 1,143 beer and wine licenses were issued whereas 3,657 such permits were issued in the FY 2017-18.

The interior minister said that the revenue worth Rs 279,800 was generated upon the issuance of beer in the FY 2016-17 and wine permits whereas Rs 918,950 revenue was generated in 2017-18.

Consultants being hired for review of Islamabad’s Master Plan

To another question by PPP’s lawmaker Abdul Qadir Patel, Ijaz Ahmad Shah told that no illegal Construction in any zone of the Federal Capital has been regularized in last five years.

The minister also said that no data of illegal structures is presently available with Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Ijaz Shah said that consultants are being hired for review of Master Plan of Islamabad. He said that consultants will also be tasked to survey the illegal construction/structures.
