LAHORE, Pakistan: Two persons lost their lives in a firing incident at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore on Wednesday morning, the Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency reported.
Police said that the firing occurred at the arrival lounge in the airport, which caused panic among the people.
Meanwhile, the additional contingents of Rangers and police personnel reached the airport.
Police said that the incident took place over personal enmity. They said that two suspects namely Akram and Arshad have been arrested.
Sources said that those, who were killed in the firing incident, were identified as Zain, a resident of Lukhu Dair area of Sheikhpura district, and Nafees. They said that Nafees had a criminal record, and multiple cases were already registered against him.
The security forces have sealed the area surrounding the Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, and the traffic has been blocked. The entry of the airport has also been closed.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar took the notice of the firing incident, and sought reports from the concerned authorities.
Sources said that the firing incident at the Lahore’s airport is a severe jolt to the security measures taken across the Country to ensure a peaceful environment. They said that concerned authorities must be held responsible and taken to task as how two persons possessed weapons and entered the airport’s premises.
