ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Interior Ijaz Ahmad Shah has said that a total of 15351 complaints regarding online violence, cyber bullying and digital harassment have been received by Cybercrime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) during 2018-19.

To a question by Senator Rahila Magsi, the interior minister told the Senate that out of 15351 complaints, 8124 have been disposed off or addressed.

Ijaz Shah also told that as a result of complaints, 176 persons have been arrested.

Replying to another question by Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, the House was apprised by the Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah that during the last three years, 22736 various cases were registered in the FIA.

The minister told that 8435 cases were registered in 2016, 7558 in 2017, and 6743 in 2018.

Ijaz Ahmad Shah further apprised the House that a total of 14284 cases were convicted, 1932 were acquitted whereas 3223 were consigned to record room during the last three years.
