ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) has invited the applications from deserving students for interest free Students Loan Scheme (SLS) 2015-16 by May 30, 2016.

According to official sources, the public sector institution students of session 2015-16, who are enrolled for graduation, post-graduation and M Phil and PhD in government sector colleges and universities are eligible to apply.

Loans under the scheme will be granted to students, who are nationals of Pakistan, including Northern Areas, Federally Administered Tribal Areas and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and of age not exceeding 21 years for graduation, 31 years of post-graduation and 36 years for PhD.

Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided by way of mark-up free loans to the meritorious students who have financial constraints for pursuing their studies in scientific, technical and professional education within Pakistan.

The objective of the Students Loan Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the students of insufficient means who have obtained 70 percent marks in the last public examination and are unable to pursue their studies within the country due to financial difficulties.

The students will have to repay their loans within next 10 years. The first installment is payable after six months of getting the job or one year after completion of the studies.

Under the scheme, loans are available in engineering, electronics, oil gas & petro-chemical technology, agriculture, medicine, physics, chemistry, biology, molecular biology & genetics, mathematics and other natural sciences.

The loans will also be available for DAWA and Islamic Jurisprudence (LL.B/LL.M Sharia), computer science/information system and technology, including hardware, economics, statistics and economics, business management sciences and commerce.

The prescribed application forms are available from various designated branches of NBP. Loans would be provided to only deserving student on availability of funds.

Loans approval is subject to availability of funds. In complete, late and other than prescribed forms will not be considered.
