New Chairman FPSC takes oath

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Major General (retd) Niaz Muhammad Khan Khattak was sworn in on Monday as the Chairman Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), a federal agency of the government of Pakistan that is responsible for the recruitment and promotion of bureaucrats.

President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath of office to Khattak at a ceremony held in Islamabad on Monday.

The oath-taking ceremony was also attended by members of the FPSC, the secretary establishment division and senior officers of the president secretariat.

Major General (retd) Niaz Muhammad Khan Khattak was appointed as the chairman FPSC on November 3 by the president on the advice of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“President Mamnoon Hussain, on the advice of the prime minister, has approved appointment of Maj Gen (retd) Niaz Muhammad Khan Khattak as Chairman of the FPSC for the unexpired portion of his term as member,” a notification said.

Major General (retd) Khattak has replaced Malik Asif Hayat who resigned as chairman of the FPSC in August.
