ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has underlined the need to create a dedicated forum for effectively combating the imminent threat of locust through strong inter-provincial coordination.

While chairing the NCOC meeting in Islamabad on Friday, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar expressed a dire need to set-up a forum like the NCOC, where all the key stakeholders can share information and resources to fight the locusts across the Country in an effective manner.

   

The Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam informed the NCOC that the ministry has recently held a meeting with all key stakeholders to evolve a comprehensive strategy against locust issue & resources are being mobilized to save the Country’s agriculture from locusts’ swarms.

Asad Umar called for a massive mobilization of all the existing resources and underscored the importance for adopting the ‘TSE’ (Tracking, Spraying, and Elimination) policy against the locusts.

The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr. Zafar Mirza and the Prime Minister’s Focal Person on COVID-19 Dr. Faisal Sultan apprised the NCOC about the overall situation in the Country regarding the Coronavirus pandemic.
