LONDON: While strongly condemning bombings in Saudi Arabia, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday urged the international community in general and Ummah in particular to forge unity at this critical moment to foil the nefarious designs of the terrorists.

“We need to renew collective efforts to fight the menace of terrorism,” Nawaz Sharif said in response to multiple explosions which rocked the Saudi Kingdom on Monday.

The prime minister said that Pakistan shares the pain and grief of their Saudi brethren.

“The government and people of Pakistan are deeply shocked and saddened over the terrorist attacks in the holy land and share the pain and grief of their Saudi brethren,” the prime minister said.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the victims of the attacks and their families,” he said.

Sharif prayed for the swift recovery of those injured during the attack.

Nawaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Four suicide blasts reportedly took place in Saudi Arabia including one near Masjid-i-Nabawi (PBUH) in Madina in which four security officials were martyred and four others injured. Other unfortunate incidents included a suicide blast at the parking lot of a hospital in Jeddah in which two security men were injured whereas two blasts occurred near a Mosque in the eastern Qatif City.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the Foreign Office also said that the government and people of Pakistan are in deep anguish over the tragedy and extend their heartfelt condolences to the brotherly government and people of Saudi Arabia over the loss of innocent lives.

“Our hearts go out to the bereaved families and we wish speedy recovery for the injured,” the statement said.
