Nawaz urges Taliban to renounce violence, respect constitution

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) will have to renounce violence and respect the Constitution for the success of peace process.

In an interview with BBC, the prime minister said that these issues are being discussed with the Taliban negotiating team and hopefully the two sides would sort out these matters in the next round of talks.

The prime minister said that talks offer the best option to end the conflict. He also expressed the hope that talks with the Taliban would help bring peace and stability to the country.

Sharif further said that there is a marked improvement in security situation of the country while the talks are still underway.
