Nawaz Sharif declares security of China as security of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has declared security of China as security of Pakistan, and said that Pakistan stands by the people of China in upholding their solidarity.

“At international level Pakistan firmly stands by its policy of one China,” he said while addressing the joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad on Tuesday.

In his address, the prime minister expressed his gratitude to the Chinese President Xi Jinping and his delegation for their visit to Pakistan.

The prime minister termed the visit of Chinese president as historic and said it will open new avenues of cooperation between the two countries to lead towards common development and prosperity.

Sharif said that both the countries will continue their journey to achieve common goal of development, progress, peace and stability.

“We are trusted friends, brothers, neighbours and time tested partners and our friendship is like iron,” he said.

The premier said that all political parties in Pakistan are on the same page to have robust ties with China in all fields. He said that we both will continue efforts to curb the menace of terrorism and will even intensify our endeavours to accomplish our goal.

Nawaz Sharif said that both the countries are working jointly for the stability and peace not only in Asia but beyond it.

Moreover, he said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a joint effort of both the countries which result in generating more economic opportunities and bring prosperity in the region. He said that all the provinces including Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir will benefit from the CPEC.

The premier hoped that the Chinese President’s this visit will also go a long way in increasing people to people contact between the two countries and both the countries will be able to achieve their goals of peace, stability, development and prosperity.
