ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Former President Pervaiz Musharraf has postponed his decision to travel abroad because his name has not been removed from the Exit Control List (ECL) yet, while in the meantime Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is presiding over a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday for consultations over former military ruler’s issue whether or not to put his name on ECL.

Earlier on Wednesday, a five-member bench of the Supreme Court ordered the removal of Musharraf’s name from the ECL, allowing him to travel abroad for medical treatment.

However, the Interior Ministry Officials have not received yet the formal decision of the apex court regarding removal of Musharraf’s name from the ECL. The Officials said that after receiving court’s decision, the ministry will take action accordingly.

Meanwhile, the departure of Pervez Musharraf abroad has been postponed.

Separately, consultations are underway between the prime minister and his important cabinet members over Musharraf’s issue.

Talking to media, a spokesman of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) said that the former president has not yet been allowed to go abroad. He said that Dr Amjad has left for Dubai to make arrangements for treatment of Musharraf who is suffering from a spinal disease.

Petition filed in LHC to bar Musharraf from travelling abroad

Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking to bar Pervaiz Musharraf from travelling abroad.

In his plea, the petitioner said that since a trial of the former president is under way under the article 6 of the Constitution, he should not be allowed to leave the country.
