Nawaz Sharif assures rapid implementation of national action plan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A high level meeting was held in Islamabad on Tuesday with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the chair to review progress on the 20-point national action plan to curb terrorism.

The meeting was attended by the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (DG-ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhter and Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Major General Amir Riaz and Federal Law Secretary Barrister Zafarullah.

It discussed ways and means to ensure effective implementation of the national action plan to combat terrorism agreed upon by all political parties in the wake of Peshawar army school terror attack.

During the meeting, the prime minister assured rapid implementation of national action plan to counter terrorism and extremism. He said that the national action plan is reflection of national consensus.

The prime minister said that special trial courts headed by military officers are part of national action plan to combat terrorism. He said that the cases of those culprits involved in the heinous crimes will be sent to the special trial courts.

Sharif said that special trial courts are an extra-ordinary solution to the extra-ordinary problems.

Moreover, the said that the cases of the killers of innocent children, citizens and personnel of security forces will be heard by the trial courts.
