ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US Ambassador to Pakistan David Hale held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Friday, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
During the meeting with the COAS, the US ambassador appreciated the gains of Pakistan Army in war against terrorism under the valiant command of General Raheel Sharif.
Separately, the COAS made a farewell visit to 10 Corps Chaklala today.
While addressing to officers and men of 10 Corps at Chaklala Garrison, General Raheel Sharif paid tributes to the supreme sacrifices of officers and men of Pakistan Army while defending motherland with valor and extreme commitment.
Earlier on his arrival at the venue, the Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Malik Zafar Iqbal received the COAS.
General Raheel Sharif is to retire on November 29 after his three-year tenure as the Chief of the Army Staff.
Last night at the farewell ceremony organized in the honor of General Raheel Sharif, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif eulogized the services of outgoing COAS for defence of the country.
The prime minister said that under General Raheel Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan’s armed forces confronted not only external threats but also the menace of terrorism.
“We successfully established the writ of the state, and reclaimed every inch of territory under our sovereign control,” Nawaz Sharif said.
