Strong protest demonstrations were held across the Country on Friday against the soaring electricity bills and unprecedented inflation.

To register their strong protest, the infuriated people took to roads and held protest marches, blocking the entire traffic.

The protest demonstrations took place in Rawalpindi, Taxila, Attock, Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Jaranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, Taunsa Sharif, Ferozewala, Kasur, Chunian, Peshawar, Mansehra, Haripur, Swat, Mingora, Karachi, and Azad Kashmir.

The protesters burnt electricity bills and announced not to pay any heed to the bills while trader associations also announced shutter down strikes.

In Islamabad, an inflation-stricken old man jumped from the Khanna Pul to commit suicide while a resident of Peshawar Nabi Gul, who was running a PCO near Ishrat Cinema Chowk in Gulbahar area, set himself on fire after he received inflated electricity bills of Rs 23,000 and Rs 29,000 respectively in last two months.

In Rawalpindi, police also apprehended protesters who held demonstrations on Murree Road at Chandni Chowk and near Liaquat Bagh.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company Limited (IESCO) Officials sought the deployment of police force at their Offices in Rawalpindi to ensure protection of IESCO, employee, and property to avoid unpleasant situation.Unprecedented inflation: People burn electricity bills, two commit suicide
