NationalTLP announces Long March towards Faizabad

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The proscribed religio-political group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has announced to march towards Islamabad after Friday Prayers and stage a sit-in at Faizabad Interchange.

The TLP’s Shura (Council) has announced its workers and supporters will head “peacefully” towards Islamabad from Lahore after Friday prayers on October 22.

The long-march aims at pressurizing the government to release the TLP Chief Saad Hussain Rizvi, the son of late Khadim Hussain Rizvi, and expel the French Envoy.

Meanwhile, sources said that the Punjab government has deployed over 200 policemen around Masjid Rehmatul-lil-Aalemeen on Multan Road in Lahore to maintain law and order.

In the Federal Capital also, heavy contingents of Islamabad Police and Rangers have been deployed at Faizabad Interchange to enforce preemptive security measures in the wake of the TLP’s protest.

Currently, the TLP activities are holding a staging a massive sit-in near its headquarters at Masjid Rehmatul-lil-Aalemeen in Lahore to put pressure on the Punjab government for the release of its Chief.

Earlier today, while addressing the Passing Out Parade of Police Officials at Islamabad Police Lines, the Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that the French ambassador cannot be expelled from Pakistan at the request of the TLP.

“Expelling the French ambassador means pulling oneself out of the European Union. Whether it is the TLP or PDM, neither should do anything to take the law in their own hands,” the interior minister warned.
