NationalSupreme Court seeks experts assistance in Orange Train Project case

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court on Thursday sought technical assistance of neutral experts in the Orange Train project case and adjourned hearing of the case till Friday (October 14).

A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Ijaz ul Hasan heard the appeal filed by the Punjab government against the verdict of Lahore High Court (LHC) in Orange Train case.

The court had sought three names of independent technical experts as amicus (Freinds of the court) in the case.

During hearing of the case, the counsel of the Punjab government argued that the Lahore High Court had rejected the reports of the project without assigning any reason or justification.

The bench observed that historical buildings were our national asset, and we wouldn’t allow anyone to destroy them.
