NationalSupreme Court reserves judgment in Panama Paper Case

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday reserved its judgment over the Panamagate while both the parties in the Case claimed to come out as victorious.

Earlier, the petitioners including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Counsel Naeem Bukhari and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed gave their arguments in the rebuttal process before the five-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.

In its remarks, the Supreme Court said that it would not issue a short order; rather a detail judgment would be announced, keeping in view the importance of the Case.

Justice Khosa expressed gratitude to all the lawyers, saying they provided best possible assistance in the Case.

The Court remarked that each aspect would be examined in detail before the final judgment.

It was the 26th hearing of the Panama Case in the Supreme Court since a new bench to hear the Case was constituted after Justice Saqib Nisar took over as the 25th Chief Justice of Pakistan in December 2016.

In the Case, Makhdoom Ali Khan represented Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shahid Hamid represented Maryam Nawaz, Captain Safdar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar while Salman Akram Raja was the Counsel of Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz.

On the other hand, Naeem Bukhari was the Counsel of PTI, Taufiq Asif represented Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) whereas Sheikh Rasheed himself gave the arguments before the apex court.
