In Pakistan, more than 500 small and medium agricultural machinery manufacturing firms have been manufacturing small to medium farm machines throughout the Country.
More than 350 machinery firms are working in the Punjab, about 50 in Sindh, around 100 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and no machinery manufacturers are reported in Balochistan.
These manufacturers are manufacturing a single implement/ machine to multiple range of implements/machines depending upon their manufacturing capability and regional demand.
The largest agricultural machinery manufacturers are located in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Okara, Sialkot, Daska, Lahore, Khanewal, Mianchannu and Kasur in the Punjab; Peshawar, Swat, Bannu, Mardan and Kohat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Nawwab Shah and Sukkur in Sindh provinces.
Most farm machinery manufacturers are not registered firms; and therefore, they do not participate in national level machinery manufacturing projects.
Both federal and provincial governments have been providing up to 60 percent subsidy on 56 farm machines and implements providing a good business opportunity for competitive firms as well as availability of subsidized machines to farmers.
The government is also financially supporting agricultural machinery manufacturers in Research and Development (R&D) of new machines.
