KARACHI, Pakistan: At least seven laborers have reportedly been killed and over 40 others injured in a blast at a ship at Gadani Ship Breaking Yard in Gaddani area of Tehsil Hub of Lasbela district on Tuesday.

The police said that explosive took place in the ship when laborers were working to break it as it was an old ship which was brought to Gaddani Ship Breaking Yard.

“According to preliminary information, explosive was carried out to break down the ship which resulted in death of seven laborers and injuring over 40 others,” police official said.

The rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted dead and injured to Jam Ghulam Qadir Civil Hospital Hub. Later, 10 injured were referred to Karachi due to their critical condition.

According to doctors, condition of few injures was serious. The police have been investigating into the incident. Further probe was underway.
