LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan Thursday said owing to best security plan the government succeeded in maintaining peace on Youm-e-Ashur, 10th of Muharram.

He credited all elected members, police, officials of government departments as well as law enforcement agencies for coordinated efforts to ensure peaceful culmination of Ashura processions.

In a brief statement he said protection of life and property of law abiding citizens was responsibility of the government therefore on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab foolproof security arrangements were made during Muharram-ul-Haram, especially on Youm-e-Ashur.

The minister who is also head of Punjab Cabinet Committee for Law & Order urged Ulema and Mushaikh of all schools of thought to exhibit same spirit of unity as shown during Ashura e Muharram to make Pakistan a citadel of Islam.

“Because of their unity we will be able to defeat our enemies,” Law Minister added.
